Rules
The rules of the event are based on the WCF rulebook, unless otherwise stated.
Girl's event: One group. Single round robin. Modified page playoff system. Team ranked 1st qualifies for the final. Teams ranked 2nd and 3rd play semi-final for second spot in final.
Boy's event: Two groups. Single round robin within groups. Semi-finals: 1st in A vs. 2nd in B and vice versa. 3rd ranked teams play for 5th place. 4th ranked teams play for 7th place.
Games will be 8 ends with maximum one extra end to determine W/L. All games will be minimum 6 ends. If the extra end is blank, the skip of each team will deliver a draw shot to the home end to determine the Win. The team without the hammer in the extra end will have choice of throwing first or second skip stone. (Skip stone must be delivered by 4th thrower with sweeper (s) and vice in the house).
LSD (Last Stone Draw), thrown at the start of each round robin game, will determine last stone advantage. The LSD will be used to determine which team has the hammer. Team listed first in the draw will throw dark handle stones, team listed second light handle. Dark handle stone will deliver LSD first. (For LSD stone there must be a thrower, sweeper(s) and vice or skip in the house). Teams will have 4 minutes practice before throwing their LSD. Team listed first will commence practice 10 minutes before the scheduled start of the game. Team listed second will commence practice 5 minutes before the scheduled start of the game. The team throw their LSD immediately after their own practice. If teams have not thrown their LSD in due time (determined by umpire) they forfeit the hammer.
For playoff rounds, the team ranking higher will have the choice of hammer or stone colour. If stone colour is selected, hammer belongs to opponent. No LSD will be used.
One 1-minute coach interaction (time-out) may be called during the regular play of a game. One additional 1-minute coach interaction will be granted during an extra end. Between ends 4 and 5 a 5-minute break is allowed.
Games will not be played on a time limit with clocks, however slow play will be discouraged and umpires may impose 45-second rule as per WCF rulebook.
Team Draw Shot (TDS) will be played by all teams after their first match Saturday. TDS will determine the ranking of teams qualifying for playoffs. Teams may be eliminated by TDS ranking. The TDS will be played by all team players, each delivering one stone. If there are only three players, only three stones will be delivered. The best three stones will be calculated. The TDS will be used to determine Round Robin Ranking in situation of ties and where teams cannot be ranked by mutual win/loss. For TDS stones there must be a thrower, sweeper(s) and vice or skip in the house.
